WHAT IS YOGA?

A TOOL

Yoga helps you do something you were not able to do before.

A RELATIONSHIP

With ourselves, our breath, our body, family members, food, thoughts, or anything else. It is about our interface with our world.

A SKILL

The ability to do something skillfully, to function in a better way, and to have a different and more intentional response.

LINKING

Yoga is intentionally and consciously linking body, breath, mind.
This connects us to something deeper.

MINDFULNESS

Refining mind. All experiences are through mind.

WISDOM

Yoga is a wisdom tradition, and only a tiny fraction of its depth
is shared in most yoga studios.

TRANSFORMATION

Yoga fundamentally changes the way our system functions in order to align toward better health. It empowers practitioners in self care.

“If you can breathe, you can do yoga.”

-T. Krishnamacharya

Those with physical challenges and limitations can benefit greatly from a daily practice that’s customized for their abilities.

How is Yoga Therapy different from a yoga class?

A yoga therapy session is personalized!

Some poses in a yoga class may not be functional for your body. Yoga Therapy focuses on alleviating your specific illness or issue, reducing your symptoms, helping manage disease, and improving your quality of life. All of the poses and breathwork developed in a therapy session will be functional, comfortable, and stable for your body.

How is Yoga Therapy different from physical therapy or medical treatment?

Yoga therapy is a whole-person approach!

Rather than addressing symptoms on a surface level, Yoga Therapy seeks to uncover and address the underlying, systemic imbalances that caused the symptoms in the first place. We start by examining with how a disease or condition is affecting you, including body, mind, breath, personality, emotions, and daily patterns of living. Then we develop an approach that addresses your physical, psychological, physiological, and emotional being — simultaneously.

Care for your health naturally

Start feeling better without pills or surgery!

This approach is rooted in a tradition which meets the client where they are at, to gradually and systematically improve functioning at all levels of being. This approach returns all body systems to balance and thereby improves health. The result is a marked reduction of symptoms and issues.

"Yoga is not about touching your toes. It's about what happens on the way down."

-Judith Laseter
