Relief begins with a breath

EVANSVILLE YOGA FOR PAIN

Gentle, Personalized Support for Chronic and Acute Pain

Pain is exhausting—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether your issue is the result of an injury, chronic condition, or the lingering effects of stress and tension, pain changes the way you move, think, and experience your life. Yoga therapy is centered around helping you relate to pain differently, and in many cases, working with a yoga therapist can reduce or eliminate pain entirely.

A Whole-Person Approach to Pain Relief

Pain is never just physical. It can influence your mood, your relationships, your sleep, and your ability to think clearly. In yoga therapy, we look at the entire person—body, breath, mind, behavior, and emotions. This whole-person approach allows me to design a practice that meets you where you are and evolves with your needs.

Yoga therapy is especially supportive for:

  • Chronic pain (back, neck, shoulder, hip, jaw/TMJ, foot)
  • Arthritis and fibromyalgia
  • Migraines and tension headaches
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Pain linked to trauma, stress, or nervous system dysregulation

Many people come to me after trying everything else. They’re tired of feeling stuck. I can’t promise to make your pain disappear overnight—but I can offer tools that empower you to manage it with greater ease, presence, and resilience.

A Typical Yoga Therapy Session

We start by identifying the nature of your pain, how it’s showing up in your life, and what your goals are. From there, I develop a customized yoga therapy plan that may include:

  • Gentle movement to increase stability, flexibility, or circulation
  • Breathing techniques (pranayama) to downregulate the nervous system
  • Mindfulness or guided meditation to shift your experience of pain
  • Visualization, sound, or behavioral tools to create new patterns in the body and mind

Each session is tailored to your capacity and comfort level. You don’t need to be flexible or fit. You don’t need to be able to get on the floor. All you need is the willingness to explore a different way of relating to your body.

Change Is Possible

The pain may be in your body, but it doesn’t have to take over your life. One of the most profound benefits of yoga therapy is the internal shift—it helps you feel more in control, more aware, and more at peace, even in the face of ongoing challenges.

Over time, what hurts may hurt less. What feels overwhelming may begin to feel manageable. And you may start to feel more like yourself again.

"Yoga is not about touching your toes. It's about what happens on the way down."
