EVANSVILLE YOGA FOR HEALING

Yoga Therapy: Yoga Designed for Healing

My name is Whitney Arvin. I’m a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) with over 1,000 hours of formal training, including an E-RYT 500 designation through Yoga Alliance.

With yoga therapy, healing is the heart of what I do—helping people feel better in their bodies and lives through practices that are intentionally designed to support healing.

Whether you’re working through chronic pain, trauma, anxiety, fatigue, or emotional stress, yoga therapy offers a personalized, whole-person approach to healing that meets you exactly where you are.

How Yoga Therapy Supports Healing

When I work with someone in a yoga therapy setting, I take the time to understand what’s really going on—not just the symptoms, but the whole picture. That includes your physical condition, emotional state, energy levels, habits, relationships, and more. From there, I design a practice specifically for you.

The tools I may include are:

  • Gentle, supported movement (asana)
  • Breathwork (pranayama) to calm and regulate the nervous system
  • Guided mindfulness and meditation
  • Sound and chanting for focus and emotional release
  • Behavioral and lifestyle support

Each practice is meant to be doable, accessible, and supportive—something you can take with you into your daily life.

What Makes Yoga Therapy Different from Normal Yoga?

Yoga therapy is a personalized process. I’m not handing you a generic routine—I’m offering a deliberate path to healing based on your unique needs, health history, capacity, and goals. We move slowly, with care and curiosity.

Yoga therapy also draws from a holistic model of the human system. According to yoga’s wisdom, we’re not just a body—we’re also breath, mind, personality, and emotion. When one layer is out of balance, the others are affected. That’s why true healing needs to touch all of these layers, not just one.

You may come to yoga therapy for pain relief, but discover unexpected benefits like better sleep, steadier emotions, or more clarity in your relationships.

Who Can Benefit?

Yoga therapy is for anyone who wants to feel better—whether that’s physically, emotionally, or both. You might benefit from this work if you’re experiencing:

  • Chronic pain or limited mobility
  • Stress, burnout, or anxiety
  • Grief, trauma, or emotional overwhelm
  • Fatigue or trouble sleeping
  • Recovery from illness or injury

You do not need to be flexible, fit, or experienced. If you’re looking for a holistic non-invasive path to healing, yoga therapy is right for you.

"Yoga is not about touching your toes. It's about what happens on the way down."
